First hand-tied and a floral muff

This is our intern Julie with her first hand-tied bouquet! Pretty amazing right?
She is going to Fox Valley Tech for interior design and really enjoyed her permanent arranged classes. I think she's enjoying fresh just as much if not more and is doing a dang good job at it!

She used celosia, roses, hypericum berry and scented geranium to collar.

What we have here is a floral muff being modeled by the beautiful Rose. Aubrey showed me a floral muff on a photography blog at 5:00 Friday night and I had to make one- although I don't think I would use these flowers again, a little too big and heavy- but hey I worked with what I had. The muff is also "green" because it's base is costructed with the cardboard flowers come sleeved in.

Gerbera Wedding featuring coordination!!!

This bride was after my heart. If there is one thing I love it is color and coordination! I'm a big fan of themes and colors being carried through all the way to little details.
I once threw a watermelon themed shower...green and pink linens, green and pink invitations, green and pink food...so naturally I dressed in a hot pink top with a green skirt. Let's just say I was teased... I can't help it!

The bride painted these adorable buckets which hung on shepherd hooks lining the aisle and were later used as the centerpieces.

The Bride even painted the matches blue to match the wedding! How cute is that?

I happened to forgo the People magazine and reach for the Press Gazette while getting my oil changed this week-end.

I am so thankful I did! This man has an AMAZING garden!

Boys and Girls Club

Submerged red roses in glass cylinders.

Petal Pusher had the honor of donating flowers for the Boys and Girls Club Pacesetter's Dinner last week. The food was done by Not by Bread Alone. Have you ever had their stuffed breads? To die for!
There were three different tables that were themed by colors. One red, one yellow and one white. The floral along with all the food was color coordinated. How cool is that?

Floral Nightmares

I'm sure you all think ooo being a florist would be so nice and relaxing. You get to play with flowers all day and then go home put your feet up and let all your troubles float away.

Well.... for the most part you're right. Sometimes though you wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat because you're not sure if the Bride's bouquet was wrapped in white or ivory or if the grooms boutonniere was made, etc...

And then there is last night, eye cream on, nails buffed, lavender oil on cuticles, deep breathing and reading a good book. Ahhhh the perfect night I drift off to sleep only to dream about throwing up Oasis floral foam... What ?!?!? No where in the dream did I ingest Oasis...just threw it up.

If that's not bad enough I woke up literally nauseous.

A) I want you to know I really debated sharing this with you.
B) I also really debated how to reference throwing up (puking, hurling, spewing or honking (as my dear husband refers to it).

Oneida Country Club's Men's Open

Masculine flowers....they do exist. Glass rectangles with calla lilies, Chinese lanterns and sea oats.

The centerpieces were accented with black rock and floating glass bubbles.

I'm not sure if the men enjoy these before or after they play golf but if it's before I'm sure their game was greatly improved! ;)
I'm not much of a golfer although I came from a line of pretty dang good golfers. My dad took me one time when I was 12. I was doing ok and then I hit his favorite ball into the water. He went down to the water and could see it so he perched himself on the edge with ball catcher in hand he tried to fish it out. His foot must have slipped and in he went. Curse words followed...we packed up and went home... he never took me golfing again and that's ok with me.

Green and Pink Wedding

This was such a sweet and classic wedding. Gorgeous antique hydrangea with blush pink stock is mounded in a rectangle with pearl accents.

For the bridesmaids bouquets we used green hydrangea with pink roses.

The bride had green hydrangea with ranunculus, spray roses, and pearl accents.

Her bouquet was tied off with the lining from her dress. It was the cutest thing!

Hotel Sierra Wedding Show Head Table

We had a booth at the Hotel Sierra Wine and Cheese wedding show. We also had the honor of creating a head table to showcase.
The bridal parties bouquets are the centerpiece here.

Submerged calla lilies and cymbidium orchids along with candlelight are the finishing touch.

I am not a crazy cat lady...

Just to clear things up I am not a crazy cat lady, Nichole is. She is the one who created an e-mail and blog profile for Joplin. She is the one who blogs as Joplin, just in case any of you thought I blogged as the cat or that Joplin actually learned to blog. ;)

However... today I am going to pick up 3 Siamese kittens to foster!!!
The Bay Area Humane Society is in need of foster homes for kittens. If you're interested give them a call or visit the website (under volunteer opportunities).

This will put my household pet count at 6!!! I could not be more excited!

We heard from Aubrey that the cake was delicious a lemon cake with fresh strawberries, and a strawberry cheesecake base. YUM.

Nothing changes the mood quite like candlelight and their reception had a ton of it!

Ahhh....how I loved this bouquet. There are some bouquets I just don't want to put down- I want to throw on my dress, grab Bubba and get married all over again. I have a big thing for red! Red glasses, red shoes, red purses, red wall, licorice, red cabinets, red velvet cake.
My mom got me a white ice cream maker this past Christmas and before I could even say "Thank You" she blurted "It doesn't come in red!" As if she was reading my mind.

All the shades of red roses, dahlias, and ranunculus make this one seriously sexy bouquet. Grrrr

Calla and Cymbid Bouquets

We had never done this combo bouquet and we think it turned our really sweet and elegant. Three full size callas are accented with three cymbidium orchids and seeded eucalyptus.

The bouquet was tied off with a sophisticated brown satin ribbon.

Julie and Julia

It's my first ever movie review!

I have to review this movie because it was really one of the best I have seen in a long time!
Throughout the entirety of Julie and Julia I was grinning ear to ear.

Cooking, Baking, Foodie things rank right at the top of my life's passions. This movie combined them all. Meryl Streep is exquisite, Amy Adams...adorable, Stanley Tucci- major crush!

I devoured the book and wanted more! I feel the same way with the movie. It's the American Dream times two for two very deserving women.

Go see it- you'll love it. I'm going to buy it the second it's out!

In honor of my floral passions I am rating it 5 out of 5 gardenias...

Textural Wedding Bouquets

This was a bridal bouquet from this past week-end. If you've been reading the blog- you can guess that I loved it...because it was green, white and very textural.

And really- how can you not love a bouquet with fern curls?

It features, hydrangea, dahlias, fern curls, hanging amaranthus, bear grass and angel vine.
Angel vine sounds cute and innocent but it is not- it's brutal, just ask my cut up hands! ;) All for the brides baby!

One Fashionable Feline

My apologies for my lengthy blog absence. The ladies have been very busy at the shop with wedding work. All of that commotion makes it difficult for me to fit in my cat naps so something had to give.

My most recent news relates to my acquisition of a wardrobe. It all started with Rose's wedding back in June. Angela decided I should have a tie to wear to Rose's wedding and thanks to those clever people at Target, that was possible. Unfortunately I wasn't able to actually attend the wedding, but I did look incredibly handsome. See for yourself...

I really enjoy the tie-I consider it my formal collar. Looking to expand my options here, but unfortunately there aren't many cat tie designers in the world.

I also play an important role in color scheme selection at the shop. Here I am modeling a popular wedding color this season-Tiffany Blue. I think it works beautifully with my white and "joplin japhet grey."

And last, but certainly not least-my argyle hoodie. Given that I am such an agreeable and stylish cat and that I enjoy my wardrobe accessories so much, the ladies decided to get me an actual article of clothing. It is actually dog clothing-apparently there aren't many cats that are as well-dressed as I.

Personally, I prefer working just the accessories. The actual hoodie is a bit much for me-though the ladies insist that I look adorable and I do enjoy all of the cooing and cuddling I recieve as a result of it. I just like to be a bit more "au naturel." But, if you feel so inclined-I wear a medium.
