Sweet William

Remember Betsy? That sweet little homeless kitty I found a while back? Read on...

So you might want to grab a cup of tea and a comfy chair for this story ...

I'm Sweet William. You can call me "Willy". I had a pretty normal cat life up until a few months ago. I'm not sure how I got lost, but it was really, really terrible. Snow was everywhere, I couldn't find my way home ... and I couldn't find a thing to eat. My tummy was rumbling somethin' terrible and as the days went on, it was getting harder and harder to even go looking for home or food. Then one glorious day a lady stopped and coaxed me to her vehicle. I guess she was delivering flowers and that car smelled just beautiful. I mean, the best smell would have been a nice can of tuna -- but I was glad to be out of the cold and to find someone who seemed to understand my predicament!

So pretty soon we arrived at the shelter, where I did not hesitate to eat up everything they offered, even while they were pokin' around and examining me and what-not. They named me "Betsy" and I was just too plum tired to tell them any differently. I thought maybe now that I was safe at the shelter that my family would come find me ... but it didn't happen. Those days outside really took a toll on me and I was having a hard time. So then, a different lady came to my rescue. She took me to her house and WOW, I never ate as good as those days! All the tasty meals and cuddling was worth putting up with a couple baths and some icky medicine.

The day my "foster mom" said I was going in for a spay, I really should have spoke up. But they figured it out eventually ... I've been a male all my life and neutered for as far back as I can remember. So they took off my daisy-print collar and renamed me "Sweet William" in honor of the flower-lady who saved my life. You might now that Sweet Williams are very sweetly scented flowers and are popularly enjoyed indoors in a vase. I have to say I'm aptly named because I plan to be a sweet indoor cat for the rest of my life!

(the botanical sweet william-I personally think the feline version is cuter!)
